PROGRAMS
In
addition to our outlined services, Southern Delaware
Physical Therapy also offers the following specialty
programs:
Fit For Golf
We
perform an evaluation of your golf swing geared towards
correction of common swing faults that may lead to back pain
or other joint dysfunctions. A program of individualized
golf-specific exercises is then designed specifically to
improve your golf fitness abilities.
Womens Health Programs
Lymphedema Management
The
physical therapist will design and individualized treatment
plan consisting of compression wrapping coupled with
exercise and manual drainage of the lymphatic system to
breakdown protein in the tissue, encourage its movement
through the lymphatic system, restore the natural pulsating
rhythm of the lymphatic system and facilitate alternate
draining pathways.
Pre and Post-Partum
Programs
The
physical therapist can design a treatment program to
increase muscle tone to ease the burden of carrying the baby
in uterus and after birth, improve circulation, increase
back and abdominal strength to decrease back pain caused by
pregnancy and teach individuals to control pelvic floor
muscle contraction. Treatment may also include aquatic
therapy.
Osteoporosis
The
physical therapist will design an individualized treatment
program to stretch tight postural structures and strengthen
weak postural muscles to combat postural changes associated
with osteoporosis. Physical therapy will also increase
bone mass by encouraging weight bearing, aerobic exercise
and progressive, light resistive training.
Incontinence
A
therapist will be able to educate you in exercises that
strengthen the pelvic floor muscles that will assist in
bladder control.
Work Conditioning and Hardening
A
job-specific analysis provides the therapist with an outline
to develop strengthening and endurance activities,
emphasizing an eventual return to work.
We
also offer community education for proper lifting
techniques, work-place ergonomics, and other safety issues.
Balance and Fall Prevention
We
utilize strengthening exercises and activities designed to
challenge your balance in a safe environment. We also
provide you with strategies and ideas to make your home safe
so as to prevent falls.
Vertigo/Dizziness Rehabilitation
A
comprehensive evaluation and subsequent treatment by a
trained therapist may provide immediate relief from
mild-to-severe vertigo.
Arthritis Program
An
individualized stretching and strengthening program is
designed to decrease pain, prevent further degeneration of
joints, and restore independence.
Aquatic Therapy
Our
clinic in Milford and Long Neck offer brand-new rehabilitative pools
utilized to decrease pain, increase range of motion and
strength, and improve your endurance. The buoyant forces of
water allow you to perform various exercises that you may
not have been able to perform on land, thereby improving
your activities of daily living.
